I had a great partner for this project. I got partnered up with with Sienna Dudas, at first I didn't think we were going to work that well together but in the end it turned out extremely good. We both divided and conquered all of the work. I don't think one person worked more than the other. For the circuits we literally both did one and a half. I’m really glad I got partnered up with Sienna, throughout the whole project I felt that I had someone help me and someone to fall back on. Some places I could grow on as a group member would probably be, sharing the air. Whenever I know how to do something I really get into it and I feel that I have to finish it by myself. For example the circuits, I was doing the first one and I wasn't really talking to Sienna about it and then she came up to me and she wanted to know how to do it, so she finished the last one and half of the second one.
In humanities we did a lot for this project. Big portion of this project was interviewing the first graders, community members, and senior citizens. We got to improve our interviewing skills and improve our communication skills. We also got to read Fahrenheit 451, a novel about a utopia where fireman's roles were reversed. Instead of putting out fires they created fire to burn books. They did this because the people wanted to always be “happy” and with books there was controversy that caused arguments so they decided to get rid of every book. In this project I used humanities when we had to make artist statements for our lanterns and when reading the book.
Without Physics I believe that this project wouldn't have happened. We had to make lanterns that light up and move so of course we needed physic for that. We didn't just learn how to make circuits but we also had to make them two more times after that. We learned how to sauter and about resistors, everything we needed to know on how to make circuits. Not only did we use physics but we also used a little bit of math when making our lanterns. On one side of each lantern we had to have a math construction that we made ourselves.
Spanish was a pretty small portion of this project. The only time we used Spanish was when we translated our artist statements into Spanish. To do that all we had to do was put our artist statement in google translate and then get small errors checked by our Spanish teacher. I honestly believe that the final exhibition turned out amazing. In past years when doing exhibitions my teachers always had these big ideas but they would never turn out as planned. This year was the complete opposite. My partner and I’s lantern also turned out beautifully. We had every circuit and motion done and the boxes were both laser cut and painted professionally and tailored for each interviewee. I feel pretty good on what I had to offer to my partnership. Other than my few breaks I was always on task working on my circuits or artist statement or anything that had to be done. I would grade myself pretty good on the 9th grade learning outcomes. Starting of with work ethic, I was always ready to work, from the beginning to the end of the project. For collaboration, My partner and I would do most of everything together, even though sometimes we were physically separated we were mentally together always knowing what the other was doing and what had to be done next. I used oral communication during the interviews and exhibition. I believe I did good both times even though during the exhibition not any people came up to me, during the interviews it was non-stop talking for 30-40 minutes. For written communication I also think I did well. For the artist statements whenever I would finish one or a part of one I would also double check it and make my partner double check it. Every step of this project I was learning new things, from the circuits to the talks we had about the human connections answers. The learning outcome that I would say I am the strongest in would definitely be either work ethic or collaboration. Work ethic because I really want to do good and over achieve throughout all of highschool. Collaboration because I like working with my peers especially when they are good workers and help when I need it. A learning outcome that I feel I need growth in is maybe written communication, I feel that I could try harder to challenge myself in writing. I believe that I demonstrated all of our class values. I demonstrated responsibility everyday when I went to class and started right away on what had to be finished. Almost everyone had to use grit during this projects because of the circuits. When you would fix one thing something else would go wrong so you had to have a lot of perseverance. I had integrity when I helped my peers with there circuits. The most common question people asked me was which way the leds went so I helped people with that even though I didn't have to. I also helped Alana with the up house. I had empathy towards Mr.Mike. Whenever we were done with work time there was usually a mess left behind so I would try my best to help clean up, and I would also clean up my own area. Overall I am really glad I did this project and how everyone's lanterns turned out. Also I am very minblowned how everyone finished everything in the short amount of time we had to finish everything.
