We started this project of by reading short stories, poetry, and personal essays to start thinking creatively, and getting ideas on what type of writing we wanted to do, and about what. After that we had a rough draft paper where we would decide what we wanted to right. Once we figured all out we started writing right away. Then our teacher ordered us blank books so we could put our stories, poems, or personal essays in them. With that we made covers for the books, about me page, and whatever else to fill up the book.
In this project it was all individual work except when everyone gave critique to each other. In one point there were people that had partners to critique each other and another time there was a whole team critique session.I worked really well individually. I had good time management and I wasn't goofing around or distracting my peers. I had a list of everything I had to do in order so I knew what I had to finish before starting something new, and all the deadlines.Something that went well was me being focused. Every time we had free work time where we got to work on our books I would be so eager to start because I knew there was stuff to be done. Something that I feel I could have done better was in the very beginning getting more down than just an idea when we were supposed to have our rough draft. But once I started getting more into my story I couldn't stop writing.
We learned a lot about writing in this project. I used work ethic in this project when creating my story, working hard even though writing isn't one of my strongest subjects. I of course used written communication everyday during this project because it was all about writing. I used oral communication during exhibition.
I used grit while making my book by keep thinking of ideas on what to make my story about. I thought to myself that I would just make a story so I could get it done, but I had grit and I kept on trying and thinking of ideas to make it as good as I could. Like I said previously, I used responsibility by always staying on task. Whenever it was time to get working I would get straight into it. I demonstrated integrity by helping one of my peers to come up with ideas for her poems even though it didn't benefit me. I believe that exhibition turned out really well. I don't understand why we had it at the coffee house, it didn't have any relevance to our project, but I had an awesome time. I believe that my final book turned out really well especially the cover. I would give myself an A+ for our 9th grade learning outcome and class values.
