Something that went well in this project was my writing piece. We had to write about a controversial topic that we felt passionate about and I chose lowering the drinking age.I felt that I did a pretty good job at this because I had many thoughts on it. I started the writing piece with just writing my thoughts down but once I started writing I couldn't stop. I was glad that happened because then I got to pull my strongest points together and make it shorter but strong. Something that initially wasn't going well was my art piece. I had a rough start because I was kind of scared of how it turn out. I had this image in my head and I was worried it wasn't going to be as great as I thought. But once I started working I kept finding ways to improve my work.
If we had to redo the project something that I would change would have to be my art piece. I wouldn't change it too drastically, I just think I would just change the size. My piece was about the size of printer paper and I would make it a little bigger if I had the chance. Another thing I would change is keeping a little more color when editing. I wanted to go for a black and hit look but where you can still see the tint of the color but once it was printed it was just black and white. So in the editing process I would add more color because I would know that once prinited it would be a little discolored.
The most significant part of this project for me was getting to learn more about that topic that I chose. I new a lot of my personal thoughts and anecdotal evidence but getting to research about it and seeing other peoples thoughts on it was very interesting. Also seeing all of the statistics about lowering the drinking was fascinating. This was significant because it shocked me and it helped me think differently about this serious topic. Another significant part of this project was seeing others peoples projects and how each one made me feel a different way.
Somewhere that I grew in spanish during this project was in my pronunciation. I read my piece in spanish multiple times the night before the exhibition and I believe that it definitely did grow. Also when we were critiquing each others projects in class I got some great piece of advice which was to slow down when reading and speaking in spanish. It gives you time to collect your thought and overall help your pronunciation. Somethings that we learned in this project was some part of mexican history. We learned all about muralism and what it was and how it shaped the people at the time it started. Then we also learned about the Mexican revolution which was really interesting to learn about. It was interesting to learn about the discrimination that happened towards mexicans at that time and how they fought to be equal. We also learned about the Raza and more.
